Kevin and his wife, Lorin, met on a blind date in December of 2005.  It was "love at first sight" for Kevin, but it took another date or two for Lorin to get beyond Kevin acting like a gorilla at the zoo and asking about her religious preferences on their first date!

After a very short and wonderful courtship, they were engaged five months later and married eight months after their first date.  The couples' wedding ceremony was held in Kevin's church in Henry County, Ohio ("God's Country", as Kevin called it).  The details were simple, as both Kevin and Lorin just knew they were perfect for each other and wanted to be married.  In fact, Kevin's mom even had to insist on flowers and a wedding cake!

Friends and family of the couple often heard Kevin referring to Lorin as "sweetheart". And if the two were together, you can bet that they were attached in some way.  The fighter pilots gave Kevin a hard time about his affection for Lorin, but he just smiled in his good-natured, down home, country way.

Their dreams of having children and adding on to the house Kevin built came to an abrupt halt when Kevin was killed in Iraq on June 15, 2007 after just ten months of marriage.

"Sonny's Sweetheart" looks to the future holding on to the cherished memories of finding true love.  She can often be heard quoting Lance Armstrong's book, "I would rather have one year of wonderful, than seventy years of mediocre".
